Overview
Our client, a dynamic team centric contract manufacturer in Central Vermont, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering Team. Collaborating across departments and with clients, you'll ensure efficient and consistent product manufacturing, emphasizing electromechanical expertise and adherence to Lean principles.
 
Responsibilities
·      Lead design and development of new production cells, aligning with product and quality requirements.
·      Optimize facility and line layouts through Kaizen and Lean events to enhance workflow.
·      Design and create necessary test fixtures and gauges, coordinating with external sources as needed.
·      Identify opportunities for tooling, systems, and process upgrades with newer technologies.
·      Develop and maintain documentation, including prints and Work Instructions.
·      Support production team training and collaborate on CAD drawings with Mechanical Engineers.
·      Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and produce prototypes for design validation.
·      Utilize technical skills to assess and improve product design and manufacturing processes.
·      Interface with vendors and Purchasing for component sourcing and collaborate with stakeholders on projects.
·      Calculate project costs and lead times as required.
 
Qualifications
·      Bachelor's or associate degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
·      Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience, ideally with electromechanical products.
·      Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., SolidWorks) and developing effective fixtures.
·      Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturing principles and experience with work instructions.
·      Familiarity with sheet metal, precision machining, and plastic injection molding.
·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at working in cross-functional teams.
·      Proficiency in MS Office, MRP, and familiarity with ISO quality systems.
·      Self-directed, proactive, and solutions-oriented with a positive attitude.
 
 
This position is at our client’s Vermont manufacturing location.  Compensation based on experience.
