Overview
Our client, a dynamic team centric contract manufacturer in Central Vermont, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to join their Engineering Team. Collaborating across departments and with clients, you'll ensure efficient and consistent product manufacturing, emphasizing electromechanical expertise and adherence to Lean principles.
Responsibilities
· Lead the design and development of new production cells, analyzing product requirements and adhering to guidelines.
· Optimize facility and line layouts through Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing events to enhance workflow efficiency.
· Design and fabricate test fixtures and gauges as necessary.
· Coordinate with external sources for tooling design and production.
· Identify opportunities to upgrade tooling, systems, and processes with advanced technologies.
· Develop and maintain documentation including prints and Work Instructions.
· Provide engineering documents for manufacturing operations and assist in training production team members.
· Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to review and modify part CAD drawings.
· Manage and review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), both internal and customer generated.
· Produce prototypes and early-stage production units to validate design and manufacturability.
· Utilize technical and critical thinking skills to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
· Liaise with vendors and the Purchasing Department for component sourcing and outside services.
· Regularly collaborate with Engineering and Customer Relationship Managers, as well as customers, on projects.
· Calculate project costs and delivery lead times as required.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's or associate degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
· Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
· Experience with electromechanical product design and manufacturing preferred.
· Proficiency in mechanical design software such as SolidWorks for prints and 3D modeling.
· Strong ability to develop and implement effective fixtures.
· Thorough understanding of Design for Manufacturing principles.
· Experience creating and implementing work instructions.
· Familiarity with sheet metal, precision machining, and plastic injection molding desirable.
· Excellent critical thinking and cross-functional teamwork skills.
· Proficiency in MS Office, MRP, and other business-related software.
· Knowledge of ISO quality systems and procedures.
· Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate.
This position is at our client’s Vermont manufacturing location. Compensation based on experience.
